StormLens vs Hail Recon: door tracking or a regional map plan?

Hail Recon is the mobile app offered by Interactive Hail Maps. Vendor homepage, checked 2026-10-21. If you're considering it alongside StormLens, compare the subscription structure as carefully as the map.

StormLens has a free plan and a per-user Pro plan. The other option sells coverage-based annual plans, as shown below. Neither structure tells you the total cost for your company until you know the coverage and user access you need.

When Hail Recon deserves the first demo

Our assessment: give it a close look if replaying a storm and looking up homeowner contact data are central to your prospecting. Those advertised capabilities are a stronger match for that requirement than the StormLens offering described here. The table's source links show what the vendor promises; they do not establish accuracy or completeness.

Ask the vendor how the plan works for your number of reps. Included user count is not published on the pricing page we checked. Pricing, checked 2026-10-21. Do not compare a regional plan's headline amount with a single StormLens seat and assume equivalent access.

When StormLens is worth trying

StormLens is an option for a roofer who wants to start recording doors without an annual map purchase. The free plan includes 3 report credits after phone verification and company branding on reports. Additional credits cost $9.99 for 1, $44.99 for 5 or $79.99 for 10.

Pro adds unlimited reports, full property hail history, custom statuses and tags, saved lists, territories, routes, rep goals, timelines, a leaderboard, storm alerts and the web app. Evaluate those features against the work your manager and reps need to do each week.

Look beyond the price row

Have each vendor demonstrate a familiar property, a report and the steps for recording a visit. Check the difference between weather information and an inspection finding. StormLens uses NOAA radar estimates; they show likely hail activity, not confirmed damage to a roof.

Your best fit depends on the tools you will use, the people who need access and the coverage you're buying. This comparison makes no claim that one map is more accurate or that either product will produce more sales.
